The TCF Canada or Québec

The TCF Canada and TCF Québec are two official French tests designed for people who need to certify their level as part of an immigration project.

The TCF Canada is intended for procedures with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, while the TCF Québec is intended for people who need to submit an application to the Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration.

At KLF, you can book your session in Annecy, Bordeaux, Lyon, Toulouse and Montpellier.

TCF Canada or TCF Québec: what is the difference?

TCF Canada

The TCF Canada is intended for people who need to officially prove their level of French as part of economic immigration to Canada or a Canadian citizenship application.

TCF Québec

The TCF Québec is intended for people who need to certify their level of French as part of an immigration application with the Quebec authorities.

In both cases, these tests assess general French language skills. Results are expressed on the CEFR scale, from A1 to C2.

These two exams do not have the same purpose. Before registering, always check which exam is required for your procedure. The right choice depends on the type of application you need to submit.

Tests

The TCF Canada includes 4 compulsory tests, with a total duration of 2 hours 47 minutes.

All TCF Canada tests must be taken. It is a complete exam covering comprehension and expression, both written and oral.

The TCF Québec includes 4 modular tests. Depending on the requirements of your application, you can take 1, 2, 3 or 4 tests. The total duration varies according to the number of tests taken.
